Happy Valentine's Day!

0

"What is life if full of time we have no time to stand and stare", said some famous human-being but for me, these words come from my friend Mihir. He wrote these in a letter before I left for London along with a list of ten places I should visit while I am here.

Mihir and I often write letters to each other; that unsurmountable bond of friendship and care - pouring out our hearts about things we would not want anyone else to know or to simply wish a Happy Valentine's Day or being the most honest critique to each other.

Both of us are entangled in our lives but we do find time to poke each other, every now and then. For me, it keeps me sane and grounded. In retrospect, I realise a very essential aspect about any relationship - there is nothing like being busy or not finding time; if you really care for someone, you will not have to 'find time'. They exist with you in your life. I guess this is why I adore couples, the old ones, young at heart. They live this aspect truly. I wonder why we take so much time to realise that in the end, nothing will matter but the moments we lived, with the people who truly love and care for us.

Essentials for every journey!
Too many philosophical thoughts! As I look at all the relationships I have been blessed to have with so many beautiful people, I write this post to share a very special one that I recently made.

The mesmerising roads of Bibury!

With my fantasy to experience what solo traveling is, I embarked on a journey to one of the most beautiful villages in the UK, Bibury. To get to Bibury, you need to take a bus to Cirencester from London and from there another bus to this heavenly village.

What happened during the trip besides the fact that I almost found it hard to believe if I was in this world, I am here to share the new relationships that I made.

The Catherine Wheel Pub

The first one was a at a pub with Luke, who served me food with all the warmth and care. I was wondering as to how someone can be so kind and warm to a stranger. He ensured that I liked what I ordered. Besides, the lovely music made this a perfect setting. Gradually, people started coming in and I realised how well people knew each other - asking about the dog or family.

The Food and Tea!

Then as I set out with a promise to share my Blog with Luke (I hope you like it Luke!), I walked down the road to catch the bus to Cirencester. As I was clicking pictures (just to capture the last bits in my heart), a very kind man named Gerry came and asked if I would like him to click a picture of me. I agreed (I had been wondering in this entire trip as to how can I get at least one picture clicked and the shy me hesitated from asking anyone). So Gerry clicked a very pretty picture (in which I am smiling awkwardly and therefore I cannot share it here :D) and we started talking. He told me that he and his wife, Joy, were also driving back to Cirencester and if I wanted, I could take a ride with them. I agreed. As we started the journey back to Cirencester, I learnt a lot about Joy and Gerry - besides the kindness and warmth that they vibrate, it is their humbleness and love for their children and their grand children, which makes them who they are. On the way, we talked about India and they wondered that I had come all the way to this village alone.

Home :-)
On the way, they asked me if I would like to come to their house for tea as there was still more than an hour left for my bus back to London. I agreed happily (inside, I was jumping with happiness :D). As I entered the house, Gerry welcomed me with the most welcoming smile and gesture. Joy offered to take my coat. Then we talked in the kitchen while Gerry prepared tea and Joy obliged me with her delicious home made cake. We moved to the living room then.

They showed me pictures of their family and told me about the places they have been to. They have been living in Cirencester for the past thirty years. It was a perfect delight to see them together with the light banter that atleast to me meant a lot of love that they shared. Joy sarcastically wonders if there is still any love left after all these years! :D

Joy and Gerry's Home :-)

After some time, as they dropped me back to the bus station with a warm and lovely hug (and also chocolates), so many thoughts rushed in my mind. I had just met the most amazing people. I had just found one more home in this big Universe. They offered me to stay at their place whenever I wanted to. And above all, they treated me, a stranger, like their own child. Faith in humanity touching the sky!

Yeah so coming back to my thoughts. I was thinking how much it takes to be together, to love, to care and above all, respect. What matters more in life - people or work or life itself? Can everything not go in together perfectly? Seeing both of them, I can bet it takes effort, honesty and true love to nurture a relationship. But in the end, what matters is these well nurtured relationships! Why do we take so much time to realise the worth of people around us - our friends, our family, our childen, our parents. I wonder.

I don't know actually. I am a 24 year old trying to make sense of a lot of things. But people like Luke, Joy and Gerry give me hope - hope that everything is fine as long as we let ourselves be and as along as we are ready to share warmth and love with people around us. What else are we here for?

So travel, read, write, do whatever you love to but most importantly, treasure relationships, for everything in life is hollow without them.

Every day can be a Valentine Day indeed! :-)

Until next time,
Love and Live :-)

P.S. I received a lovely email as I returned back to London from Joy and Gerry that made me smile and gave me faith in what 'relationships' actually mean.

P.P.S. Waiting for my Valentine :D

P.P.P.S. Do Travel Solo!

P.P.P.P.S. Not sure if this how postscripts are written :p

The Bench will always be empty. The question is - do you wish
to have memories on a bench or a trash bin!

Happy Birthday Devina!

6

Hi Devina :D

As I sit on my desk at 4:58 a.m., (trying to not sleep because I want to eat the masala dosa with you for breakfast) to write this blog post and then at 2:30 p.m. to update and publish this, the first thing that comes to my mind is - Birthday toh bahana hai tumhara, maze hum sab ne kiye bahut :D

I wanted to post this first thing in the morning but then I also wanted to post this with our group picture at THE POINT. Amish had it and he was sleeping. When he sent it to me, I was sleeping. Hence, the post got a bit late. Anyway, I am happy that it did for otherwise I would not have got the chance to write about all the selfless kindness and the joy of giving whole heartedly that I witnessed this morning during breakfast with you. As I saw you distributing sweets and christmas ornaments to everyone in the mess and wishing them Merry Christmas, I could see and sense an unusual aura of divine happiness on your face. I was smiling all the time unconsciously. I felt so proud and happy telling everybody that - It is her birthday as well! :D Please do not get out of your room without me today because I want everyone to know that it is your birthday as well.  I loved it when people were giving you birthday wishes and blessings and you were staring at me :D You queen of modesty!

Indeed, today has been a spectacular day. Starting from the divine midnight prayer at Saint Paul's Cathedral to finding our way through the routes of the Santander Cycle docks to cycling all the way to Primrose Hill, it was a night to remember. Thank you Devina, for it is because of your birthday that we all could live these moments of togetherness or as you would like to put it - the I love you zindagi moments. :-)

I had a gala time for I could trust each one of you that we will figure out everything. So I was not bothered really and was clicking pictures :D

One of the best moments was when Surabhi lay on the footpath and Rishi gave her his jacket. I felt so happy inside - so much care and love in these people. Then the big cap was the highlight of the discussion throughout the night. Or when Amish was ensuring that everybody gets together safely and comfortably. Or when Silky rode off to some random road and then Rishi and Amish found her back. Or when Yadu was so carefully taking care of the bag and he carried it all the way on his bicycle. Or when we all were simply singing and laughing and cracking the world's baddest jokes! Hamara jokes bahut ghinaune hote ja rahe hain. Kuch karna hoga. :D

How small random moments build memories for a lifetime is something I have always treasured and valued.

And then when we did reach the Primrose Hill, I was so happy. I just wanted that beautiful moment to freeze. Oh My God! I am still there at the top of the hill at 3 a.m. sitting with you, Amish, Silky and Surabhi, staring at the sky, the full moon, the bright stars and the beautiful skyline of the city of London! Am I the one experiecing all of this? I still cannot believe this. Thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't have made it to the top of the hill amidst the not-so tyring bicycle ride and Silky's 'urgent need' (:D). I am glad we did. I still cannot forget the expression on your face when you saw that skyline and those little cup cakes. That moment when you blew the candle and I hugged you, I could hear all that you wanted to say without you even uttering a word. This is friendship.

I don't think I would really write down a post so early in the morning for any other friend baring you and a few others. I want you to know how special you are because of the human being that you are. When I look at you, when I am with you, my faith in being humble, grounded, kind and humane increases manifold. If there is any person in London who I know can never get swayed away by anything, it is you. While the world goes on dancing it's own tunes of blah blah blah, you remain calm amidst the chaos. You are like the sea that endures all the waves with grace and elegance. You are the gum (:D) of our group. I so admire you for being you.

Always stay the same. There is nothing or nobody in this entire world and beyond, that deserves to take that inspiring and beautiful smile off your face. We love you loads and we are so lucky to have you in our lives.

Stay blessed and keep shining - brighter than the stars and the lights of the skyline of London! :D

P.S. Thank you for the holiday present. I won't share the details of that here. Voh thoda personal hai na :D You made our day and the entire year!

P.P.S. Voh card mein spelling mistake mujhse hui thi. Naam mein kya rakha hai yaar vaise bhi. Chodo! :D :D

Solitary Souls

0

And there we all stand like solitary souls wishing to be a star in the sky.... a star that is our own.

Happiness?

The man in the white shirt is taking out photographs instantly from a machine to give them to his customers. The group of people surrounding him are not the ones who got clicked, but the ones who are happy and amazed at the display of technology.

How different people find reasons to smile and cheer in various situations has taught me a lot about life and happiness!

Therefore, whether we want to accept or not - happiness lies inside each one of us. We can CHOOSE to be happy. :-)

The Men in Red

0

As they help us get to our various destinations, their destination remains the same. I wonder what is the definition of travel for them! Is it even an important question to have?
As they see the world around them traveling, they let themselves be.

Through The Magical Lens!

2

Photography seemed a luxury to me, something that could also be pursued through a phone camera, something which was not really required. After all, I had always tried to hide from the camera; I never liked being clicked. Therefore, I never viewed it as an art until one fine day, my soul fell for the DSLR. That day, the first thought that came to my mind was - "I am really lucky. I seem to have found two callings in one life - Fighting against Human Trafficking and Capturing Emotions and Stories through Photography!"

If fighting against human trafficking is my soul, then photography is the heart which keeps the soul alive.

I want to thank my friend Claire, for introducing me to photography, for letting me use her DSLR even when I did not know a bit about it, and for being after my life to buy one; she even tried to gift me one! Thank God, she didn't. But she did gift an amazing book which satisfied my thirst for the DSLR (until I bought one), and which continues to teach me. Thank you Claire. If you would have not seen 'an eye for the lens' in me, I would have never known that it was going to be the most beautiful part of my life.

Once I bought the DSLR, there was no stopping. Hardik (one of the best Photographers this world has), introduced me to the plethora of things that this magical lens could do. Being a fan of his photography page (Hardik Photography), I had already started to see the world through the lens. His photographs taught me that photography is a powerful medium to express emotions and feelings, to tell stories that need to be told, and to raise awareness on issues that demand attention. And indeed, it is. We can turn the world around with this magical lens; for the good, of course!

From here, my desire to express what my soul saw, got its wings. I aspire to capture all the untold stories and emotions that this world has to offer. I also hope to capture and feel some emotions, which I have not felt before (not sure why). Besides, I intend to use this as a medium to encourage powerful and meaningful discussions around issues that demand attention; all through the soul - ken-sho.

This section of the blog is dedicated to sharing the impressions of the heart, the musings of the soul, and the fulfilling experiences of travelling; all through the magical lens!

:-)

And we can do that only when we stop and have a little faith;
weather it is in a dry desert or a dangerous sea."
